There were nine Courtrooms in the building which was completed in 1952. These courtrooms were much smaller than the courtrooms constructed in the new courthouse with less room for parties and spectators. Because they were constructed prior to the development of ADA standards, courtrooms, jury boxes, witness stands and the judge's bench were not easily accessible. When designing the new courthouse, great care was taken to assure that all parties coming before the court could access all facilities within the building.
