Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County
Social Worker – Circuit Court seeks a custody evaluator. The position involves preparing custody evaluations providing specific recommendations as to custody and/or visitation in contested family law cases. The evaluator will interview parents and other necessary persons, collect/review relevant records, and possibly make home visits in the preparation of reports. The evaluator will testify in court and may participate in depositions. The evaluator also helps families reach temporary or final agreements regarding custody and/or visitation through alternative dispute resolution. Other duties as assigned
Requirements: Master’s degree in social work (mental health/related field). At least two years related experience, five preferred. Excellent verbal and written skills. Computer literate. High level interpersonal skills and the skills to effectively interact with judges, masters, attorneys, and litigants. The ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
Preferred: A license in social work; Experience working with high conflict families or families in crisis; Knowledge of family law/court procedures; Mediation or other alternative dispute resolution training.
