Family Law Administrator, Office of Case Management  

The Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County is seeking to hire a Family Law Administrator for the Office of Case Management.

DUTIES INCLUDE: The attorney works with the bench to develop and maintain consistent standards and procedures in family matters to better manage case flow; develops and oversees alternative dispute resolution programs; applies for and manages a state funded grant for the Family Law Division; prepares budget for program development and evaluates impact on courthouse operations; monitors legislation that may alter the law and procedures that impact court functions; monitors proposed new Maryland Rules and amendments to current rules that impact court functions; reviews motion filings and makes recommendations to judges; coordinates training for the bench and court staff to ensure the court imposes consistent standards and procedures in family law matters; serves as a liaison between the bench and attorneys / litigants; serves as the backup to other staff attorneys, including the Scheduling Conference Administrator and the Civil and Criminal Case Administrator; and other duties as assigned.

The Family Law Administrator manages a staff of three paralegals, the Permanency Planning Liaison, the ADR Coordinator, and the Court Researcher. The position is responsible for the administration of the Family Law Differentiated Case Management Plan, ensuring that cases are efficiently and effectively processed through the court to appropriate disposition. The position is also responsible for reviewing and analyzing data and drafting the annual case time standards report for family law cases.

REQUIRMENTS: Maryland Bar admission and a minimum of three years’ experience in the practice of law. Applicants should have knowledge of family law, as well as strong legal research and writing skills. Experience as a family law litigator is desirable.

SALARY/BENEFITS: This is a full-time grade 19 position with county benefits.
